President Lula speaks by phone with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum
On Wednesday, July 23, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva called Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum. During the conversation, President Lula recalled their recent meeting at the G7 Summit in Canada and expressed his gratitude for the Mexican foreign minister's participation in the BRICS Summit held in Rio de Janeiro.
President Lula underscored the importance of strengthening economic and commercial relations between the two countries, especially given the current period of uncertainty. The two presidents then agreed to schedule Vice President Geraldo Alckmin's visit to Mexico for August 27 and 28, during which he will be accompanied by a business delegation and other Brazilian ministers.
As a result of this visit, President Lula proposed initiating negotiations to expand the Brazil-Mexico trade agreement to favor increased commercial exchange between the two countries. Both presidents identified the pharmaceutical, agricultural, ethanol, biodiesel, and aerospace industries, innovation and education sectors as key areas of the bilateral relationship.
