I would like to extend my congratulations to Friedrich Merz and his party on their victory in yesterday's elections. His election comes at a time of great global geopolitical and geoeconomic sensitivity, but also at a time of great hopes and opportunities for common gains.

Germany is a friendly nation and a vital partner for Brazil in defending democracy and multilateralism, promoting sustainable development, and protecting human rights.

Our countries have a long history of working together to reform global governance. I am convinced that we will continue to work together to expand our convergences and complementarities in favor of an increasingly competitive international positioning for both.

The implementation of the agreement between Mercosur and the European Union and the holding of COP30 in Brazil are facilitating pathways for this process.

Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva,

President of the Republic
