Brazil’s Lula speaks with Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia
On Monday, January 13, at 3 p.m., President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva telephoned the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, to discuss issues in the bilateral agenda.
The Brazilian President highlighted that relations between Brazil and Saudi Arabia are going through an excellent moment and that the Saudi-Brazilian Coordination Council, established last November, will strengthen dialog between the two countries. He also thanked Saudi Arabia for adhering to the Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty.
The Crown Prince congratulated President Lula on the successful G20 Summit held in Rio de Janeiro and conveyed his pleasure with the progress of the partnership between the two countries, particularly in the energy sector.
Lula reported receiving a very positive update from the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, who is currently visiting Riyadh, regarding potential areas for bilateral cooperation.
President Lula pointed out that trade flow has been increasing in both volume and value, reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s status as Brazil’s foremost partner in the Middle East. He indicated a desire to diversify their exchanges, aiming for higher-added-value products to strengthen the value chains between the two countries.
Lula reiterated his invitation for the Crown Prince to visit Brazil in 2025, a reciprocal gesture reflecting the warm welcome he received in Riyadh in November 2023.
