The Brazilian government celebrates South Africa's accession to the Partnership for Workers' Rights, an initiative established by Brazil and the United States in 2023. The Partnership reaffirms the central role of workers in building a sustainable, democratic, and just world. South Africa's entry, coinciding with its assumption of the G20 presidency, enhances the capacity to elevate this agenda to the highest international level, expanding global commitment to decent work and social justice.

In its first year, the Partnership has achieved significant milestones, including protecting workers from heat stress, combating forced labor, and promoting inclusion in the labor market. Furthermore, we have strengthened trade unions, advanced gender and racial equality, and supported a clean and just energy transition.

The meeting held between Presidents Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Joe Biden, and Cyril Ramaphosa on the sidelines of the G20 in Rio de Janeiro solidified the three countries' commitment to the decent work agenda, calling on others to join the Partnership.
