President Lula congratulates Mexico’s president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum

On the afternoon of June 3, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva telephoned the president-elect of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, to congratulate her on her remarkable Sunday election victory and wish her every success over her term.

President Lula said he looks forward to working with the first woman elected president of Mexico. He stated that this result represented a victory for Latin America and for all democratic forces in building more inclusive and sustainable societies.

Lula also recalled the 190^th anniversary of Brazil-Mexico relations, which are as strong as ever. He reiterated his wish to visit Mexico this year to strengthen bilateral political and commercial ties.
