US Security Advisor conveys President Biden’s condolences for heavy flooding in Brazil

Jake Sullivan spoke by phone with Celso Amorim, Special Advisor to President Lula, and emphasized US commitment to assist Brazil in any way necessary

US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan spoke by phone with Special Advisor to the President of Brazil Celso Amorim. Sullivan offered condolences on behalf of US President Joe Biden and the people of the United States to all those who are suffering from the devastating floods and mudslides that have hit the state of Rio Grande do Sul.

Sullivan reiterated the United States' continued support and commitment to working closely with Brazil in providing the necessary aid.

Amorim and Sullivan discussed the progress in strengthening the bilateral relationship and in addressing global and regional challenges, including efforts to expand humanitarian assistance to Gaza and to secure the release of Israeli hostages. They also discussed the situation in Ukraine and the electoral process in Venezuela.
