Brazil in Concert Project
In 2018, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs launched the Brazil in Concert project to introduce international audiences to Brazil's long tradition of concert music, which spans from the 19th century to the present. The project is the result of a partnership between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Department of Culture, the São Paulo State Symphony, the Goias Philharmonic, the Minas Gerais Philharmonic, and the Brazilian Academy of Music.
The recordings include around one hundred symphonic works by Heitor Villa-Lobos, Carlos Gomes, Claudio Santoro, M. Camargo Guarnieri, Edino Krieger, Alberto Nepomuceno, Henrique Oswald, Francisco Mignone, Lorenzo Fernandez, José Siqueira, César Guerra-Peixe, Almeida Prado and other renowned Brazilian composers.
The albums feature the world's first recordings of the selected works, with world-class technical quality. The releases are accompanied by the corresponding scores, many of which are unpublished. The discs are published and distributed by the international record label Naxos, which has an extensive international distribution network and online marketing platform.
The first album in the series, featuring works by Alberto Nepomuceno, was recorded by the Minas Gerais Philharmonic Orchestra and is available on digital media platforms.
