Tendo em conta a precariedade das comunicações, instabilidade no acesso ao Sistema Consular Integrado do Ministério das Relações Exteriores, e os frequentes cortes no fornecimento de energia elétrica, o recebimento e processamento de todos os tipos de vistos poderá ser interrompido, em caráter temporário e excepcional, a qualquer momento. O setor consular, por enquanto, está funcionando regularmente. Casos de comprovada urgência de assistência consular a brasileiros terão prioridade no atendimento.

NOTICE
Due to the precariousness of communications, instability in access to the online Consular System of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil and frequent cuts on the electricity supply, the receipt of visa applications and processing of all types of visas may be temporarily and exceptionally interrupted at any time. For the moment, the Consular Section of the Embassy is operating on a regular basis. Proven emergency cases requiring consular assistance to Brazilians will be handled with priority.

Important Notice:
The Consular Section of the Brazilian Embassy informs that, as from 6 of March 2025, an individual in-person interview has become mandatory for the issuance of all types of visas, including visitor visas (VIVIS) for the purposes of tourism or business.
Therefore, all the applications for visitor visas (VIVIS) shall be presented at least 60 business days before the scheduled trip to Brazil.
All interested parties are requested to submit their requests for visit visas in a timely manner, given the large volume of work received by the Consular Section.
Visiting Visa (VIVIS)
This type of visa applies to:
- Tourism
- Transit (to a third country)
- Business (meetings, fairs and corporate events, search for commercial opportunities, signing contracts)
- Non-corporate events (conferences, seminars, congresses, cultural meetings or fairs)
- Artistic or sports activities (stays of up to 90 days)
-Study (stays up to 90 days)

Student visa (VITEM IV e VITEM I)
This type of visa applies to:
- Undergraduate studies
- Graduate and Postgraduate studies
- Research or scientific cooperation (stays longer than 90 days)
- Academic exchange programs

Family Reunion Visa (VITEM XI)
This type of visa applies to those who are:
- Married to a Brazilian
- Married to a foreign citizen who is already the beneficiary of a residence permit in Brazil
- Married to a foreign citizen who is the process of obtaining a temporary visa (VITEM) for Brazil and wishes to travel as a dependent
- Dependent family member of a Brazilian citizen or a foreign permanent resident in Brazil.

Work Visa (VITEM V)
This type of visa applies to those:
- Foreign citizens traveling to Brazil under an employment contract
- Technical assistance
- Technology transfer
- Apprenticeship (professional training exchange program)
Important notice: the application for Brazilian work visas (VITEM V) must be initiated by the Brazilian employer at the Ministry of Justice of Brazil.

Investment Visa (VITEM IX)
This type of visa applies to a foreign citizen who will represent a financial institution or a business group that will carry out direct investment in a company established in Brazilian territory.
Important notice: the application for Brazilian investment visas (VITEM IX) must be initiated by the applicant or a legal representative in Brazil at the Ministry of Justice of Brazil.

Visiting Brazil for Business (VIVIS)
The traveler must apply for visitor visa (VIVIS);
Besides the general requirements, if you are going to attend a business meeting, you must submit a signed invitation letter issued by the host
company. This document must provide detailed information of the host company and the guest traveler, including:
- Information about the host company: name, CNPJ (Brazilian Corporate Tax registry number), line of business, phone number, e-mail, website;
- Information about the signing agent or host company legal representative: name, CPF (Brazilian Personal Tax registry number), position, phone number, e-mail;
- Business relationship between the host company and the invited guest (importer, official representative, subsidiary etc.);
- Information about the invited guest: name, passport number, position, phone number, e-mail;
- Location and date the business meeting or interaction is supposed to take place;
- How the trip is being sponsored;
Working Hours of the Consular Section: The Consular Section is open to the public from Sunday to Wednesday, from 9:00 until 13:00
