Consular Marriage Registration
General information
- For the marriage of a Brazilian citizen in Singapore to be valid in Brazil, it must be registered at the Embassy.
- After registration at the Embassy, the marriage must be registered at a 1st Civil Registry Office in Brazil (cartório de 1º Ofício).
- A marriage can only be registered at a single Brazilian consular authority.
- For the registration of marriage, the presence of the Brazilian spouse at the Consular Office is required. This spouse will act as the declarant and will sign the record to be entered in the Registry Book.

If both spouses are Brazilian, either one may act as the declarant.

Marriage registration form |
The form must be filled out on a computer before being printed and signed by the Brazilian spouse acting as the declarant. In the event of a proven physical or legal impediment of the Brazilian spouse, the consular authority may exceptionally authorize the foreign spouse to act as the declarant. It is essential that, at the time of the appointment, the form is already duly completed and signed. |

Original and photocopy of the Singaporean marriage certificate |
The document's full form must be submitted - Certified Copy of an Entry. No previous legalisation is necessary. In cases where the marriage was celebrated in another country and jurisdiction, the marriage certificate must first be apostilled or, where applicable, legalized by the consular office of the competent jurisdiction. |

Original and photocopy of the prenuptial agreement (if existent) |
If the local marriage certificate does not mention the property regime or the existence of a prenuptial agreement, the property regime to be declared in the Brazilian marriage registration will be the legal regime provided for under the legislation of the place of celebration. Note: If deemed necessary by the consular authority, an official translation of the document into Portuguese or English will also be required. |
