Non-Brazilian citizens
- Original and copy of a valid identification document (passport or RNE - Registro Nacional de Estrangeiros)
- Original and copy of birth and/or marriage certificate;
- "Individual Taxpayer Registration" form, filled out online
Applications MUST be made in person.
The application will only be processed after bringing it to the Embassy with the documents above. Clicking “send” on the website does not generate a CPF number automatically.
The application for a CPF is free of charge.
CPF Registration Update
According to new regulations, every foreign national holding a CPF number, must carry out the annual CPF registration update:
Download or update the Federal Revenue Service/RECEITA FEDERAL (RFB) app and:
a) provide your CPF registration number and date of birth;
b) take a photograph of your face and passport via the RFB application;
c) fill in the registration information requested by the application.
Note: If there is a discrepancy in the CPF data during the procedure via application, it will not be possible to complete the registration update. In this case, you must appear in person at a Brazilian consular office, presenting, as required, the error message generated by the application and one of the following documents:
a) Passport; or
b) National Migration Registration Card (CRNM) or the old Foreigner Identity Card (CIE/RNE).
