Visitor Visa (VIVIS) - Embassy of Brazil in Kigali
Who can apply for a Visitor Visa?
The visitor visa may be granted to visitors who wish to travel to Brazil for a stay of up to 90 days without purposes of immigration or the exercise of paid activity (daily allowances, artistic paychecks, compensation or other travel expenses are allowed). Visit visas can be granted for those traveling for tourism, business, transit, artistic or sports activities, study, volunteer work, or to attend to conferences, seminars or meetings, among other purposes - provided there is no remuneration in Brazil and the stay does not exceed 90 days.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
a) Visa application form, signed with passport-sized photo attached (click here for instructions);
b) Passport, valid for a minimum of six months after planned arrival in Brazil. Passport must have at least two blank pages. Applicants should bring all previous passports still in possession;
c) If applicant is not a national of the country in the Embassy’s jurisdiction (Rwanda), then they must provide Proof of Residence in Rwanda.
d) Personal presentation letter, signed, introducing the applicant and stating the purpose of the trip. Must include travel dates, duration/place of stay, and information on how the trip is being funded;
e) Proof of income for the duration of the trip (last 03 checking/savings account statements or the last 06 Pay Stubs). If you do not meet this requirement, you will need a sponsor to sign an Affidavit of Support, and submit it with his/her signature and copy of the ID, together with his/hers last bank 03 (three) statements. This document must be notarized;
f) Flight ticket reservation (round trip) containing the name of the passenger, itinerary, flight numbers and arrival/departure dates. Important: do not pay tickets whilst you do not have the visa. Alternatively, provide a Travel Declaration with intended travel dates;
g) Bank deposit or receipt of payment for the consular fee;
Additional documents (if applicable)
h) Hotel reservation;
i) Invitation letter by a friend or relative in Brazil signed electronically through the Gov.br portal, or signed and certified by a public notary. This document must contain the contact information of the person inviting;
j) Introduction letter from the applicant’s employer, school or sponsoring institution. This document must contain the contact information of the person inviting;
k) For those participating in conferences, seminars, athletics or artistic events and competitions: an original invitation letter form the organizing institution in Brazil, signed electronically through the Gov.br portal, or signed and certified by a public notary, with information on the activities to be performed, location and duration of the event. This letter must state that the participant will not engage in any sort of paid employment in Brazil. It must contain the contact information of the person inviting;
l) Any other documents that can confirm the purpose of the trip and the applicant’s financial means to support the trip.
FOR MINORS (THOSE UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE)
All of the applicable previous requirements plus the following:
- Birth certificate
- Parents' IDs
- Authorization For Issuance of Brazilian Visa For Minor* (Consent form)
- Affidavit of support*
*If one of the parents will not be present, his/ hers signature and a copy of the ID must be notarized
