Simple powers of attorney are less formal than public ones, as they are not recorded in the Embassy’s consular books. For certain purposes, Brazilian law requires a public power of attorney; a private one will not be accepted. If in doubt about which type is required, consult your lawyer or the authority/entity that will receive the document.
How to request this service:
- Prepare and print the draft power of attorney. Do not sign it – signature must be done at the Embassy on the appointment day. The content is the sole responsibility of the grantor. The Embassy only authenticates signatures and is not liable for any incorrect or false information in the document.
- Request an appointment by sending an e-mail to: consular.ama@itamaraty.gov.br. The e-mail must include a copy of your Brazilian passport or valid Brazilian Residency Card (RNM)
- Once the appointment has been scheduled, pay the consular fee of JOD 14.20 per grantor. Payment must be made at any AJIB branch or via mobile transfer/CliQ to the account Brazilian Embassy Renda Consular, IBAN / CliQ: JO90AJIB2260006131710010648000
- Attend the Consular Section on the scheduled date and time bringing:
- the unsigned power of attorney
- proof of payment of consular fee
- valid Brazilian passport or valid Brazilian Residency Card (RNM)
