SOME PASSPORT HOLDERS NEED TO APPLY IN PERSON
Applicants holding Afghan, Egyptian, Eritrean, Ethiopian, Iranian, Iraqi, Jordanian, Lebanese, Libyan, Nepalese, Nigerian, North Korean, Pakistani, Palestinian, Senegalese, Sudanese or Syrian passports are required to apply in person.
WHO CAN APPLY?
A Permanent Visa may be granted to the retired foreign citizens wishing to live in Brazil, provided that they are already in use of their pension, and legally allowed to transfer to Brazil a regular monthly income in a foreign currency, pension included, equivalent to a minimum of R$ 6.000,00 (six thousand reais). This minimum required income will allow for the applicant to take two legal dependents to Brazil. For every additional dependent, an additional amount of R$ 2.000,00 (two thousand reais) per month will be required. Applicants must lodge their application in person (not required for the dependents).
The procedure of applying for this visa requires an approval from our Ministry of External Relations, which takes approximately 8 weeks. Only after the receipt of this approval can the visa be issued. Once approved, visa must be issued within 6 months. Within 30 days of arrival in Brazil, bearers of these types of visas must register with the Brazilian Immigration authorities (The Federal Police Department-DPMAF) and submit a copy of the visa application form, provided to them by this Embassy upon collection of the visa.
DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED (after approval by Brazilian authorities)
- a visa application form (one per applicant) must be filled in at https://formulario-mre.serpro.gov.br. Fill in the form. Click "SEND" to receive your processing number and receipt. Print the receipt. Attach one passport-size photograph (please do not staple the photo; glue it, if possible). Sign the receipt. For the photograph it is required front view and white background, professionally printed.
- the applicant's passport, valid for no less than 6 months, with at least two blank pages. Please note that pages reserved for amendments cannot be used for visa purposes. Soiled, damaged or defaced passports will not be accepted.
- a Document from the Government’s Department of Retirement Funds or/and private pension provider, stating the applicant’s retired status, the pension’s amount in the foreign currency, and confirming that the pension can legally be transferred to Brazil. The letter from the ‘The Pension Service ’must first be stamped by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and then brought to this Embassy for its legalization (fee: AED 80 per document).
- the applicant's certificate of good behavior (international model) issued by the country of residence and stamped by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in UAE. The certificate must be issued no more than 90 days prior to delivery at this Embassy (fee: AED 80).
FOR DEPENDENTS
Documentation requirements to retrieve the visa for the spouse and minor children:
Besides the documents listed above, except the certificate of good behaviour when minor, one must present Original Marriage or Birth certificates, which will be legalized by this Embassy. Please note that certificates issued in other countries than UAE must be legalized by the Brazilian Diplomatic Representation in the country where they were issued. This Embassy can only legalize documents issued in other countries if they are priorly legalized by the diplomatic representation in UAE. (fee: AED 80 per document).
In all cases, the Embassy may request additional information or documentation as deemed necessary.
