Family-reunion visa allows family members of Brazilian nationals or Brazilian residents to establish residence in Brazil.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR FAMILY REUNION – VITEM XI

VISA RECEIPT OF REQUEST SUBMISSION
(RER – Recibo de Entrega de Requerimento)
|
- Fill out the Visa Request Form
- You MUST upload ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS listed below
- Print the Visa Receipt of Request Submission (RER) and sign it in the designated box WITH PEN (digital signatures ARE NOT accepted).
- For minor applicants, both parents must sign the RER in the designated box.

ORIGINAL PASSPORT
|
- The passport must be valid for the entire period of stay, including the date of departure.
- It must have at least two blank pages
|

PHOTO
|
|
|
PROOF OF PARENTAGE
|
- BIRTH CERTIFICATE with parents’ full name; OR
- GOVERNMENT-ISSUED DOCUMENT with parents’ full name on it.
- If the document is not in Portuguese, English, Spanish, or French, it must be accompanied by a certified translation.
- OBS: You MUST submit the ORIGINAL OR NOTARIZED copy of your proof of status document.

CRIMINAL RECORD
|
- RCMP Criminal Record (click here) OR Local Police Criminal Record.
- The Criminal Record MUST have been issued within the last 3 months.

PROOF OF RESIDENCE WITHIN THE CONSULAR JURISDICTION
|
- Photocopy of a valid Driver’s Licence; OR
- Utility bill from current month; OR
- Bank / Credit Card statement with name, address, and issue date.
OBS: The jurisdiction of the Consulate General of Brazil in Toronto is limited to the provinces of ONTARIO and MANITOBA, as well as the territory of NUNAVUT.

PROOF OF RELATIONSHIP

- Proof of relationship to the Brazilian national or foreign citizen resident in Brazil. e.g.: marriage certificate

|
Official ID of the Brazilian spouse
- Brazilian Passport;
- Brazilian ID (Carteira de Identidade);
- National Migratory Registry Card (CRNM - Carteira de Registro Nacional Migratório)

FOREIGN APPLICANT
Declaration of a criminal record absence
|
- Declaration by the foreign applicant, under penalties of the law, of an absence of criminal records in any country, in the 5 years prior to the date of the visa application.
- The signature on the declaration must be notarized by a Notary Public.

HOST
Declaration of the spouse's residence
|
- Declaration of the Brazilian spouse, under the penalties of the law, that he/she resides in Brazil or intends to reside and for what period of time.
- The signature on the declaration must be notarized by a Notary Public.

JOINT DECLARATION
(Applicant and host)
|
- A joint statement of the Brazilian and foreign parties, under the penalties of the law, regarding the continuity of effective union and coexistence.
- The signatures on the declaration must be notarized by a Notary Public.

FEES
|
- Payment must be made by MONEY ORDER or BANK DRAFT payable to "Consulate General of Brazil"
- The fee for visitor visas is CAD $150.00, except the following:

RETURN ENVELOPE
|
- Canada Post prepaid envelope (registered, express, or priority mail)
- The envelope must be self-addressed (on both fields “To” and “FROM”) and have a tracking number
|
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
PROCESSING TIME
The typical processing time for a visa is 10 (ten) business days, starting from the date the application is physically received at the Consulate. If the application is incomplete, an additional 10 business days should be expected from the time you provide the requested documents. We strongly recommend submitting your application AT LEAST 15 business days before your planned travel date, as some cases may take up to a month for authorization. Urgent requests will be reviewed by the Consulate and may be processed within available resources at no extra charge.
