Exemption on short-term trips to Brazil
New visa rules for Chinese citizens
As of yesterday, 11th of May, a visa exemption has come into effect for Chinese citizens holding a valid ordinary passport issued by the People’s Republic of China for short-term trips to Brazil.
Chinese nationals may travel to Brazil without a visa for up to 30 days, non-extendable, with the possibility of multiple entries, provided that the total length of stay does not exceed 30 days within a one-year period (counted from the date of the visitor’s first entry into the country). The exemption covers travel for tourism, business, transit, and participation in artistic or sporting activities, excluding work-related activities.
For now, the measure will remain in effect until December 31, 2026. Chinese nationals who intend to stay in Brazil for more than 30 (thirty) days per calendar year or for other purposes need to apply for a visa through the e-Consular system.
