Notice No. 1-A/2025
The Selection Committee, appointed by the Consul General of Brazil in Tokyo, hereby announces the opening of applications for the selection process to hire one (1) Support Assistant to serve primarily as a Driver. This hiring process complies with Decree No. 1,570, dated July 7, 1995, and the Ordinance of September 12, 1995, issued by the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The process details are as follows:
2. Employment and duties
2.1 The Support Assistant is a locally hired position for general services requiring elementary education or equivalent. The selected candidate will perform support duties, primarily as a Driver for the Consulate General of Brazil in Tokyo. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Safely driving diplomats, authorities, employees, and visitors to official appointments;
- Assisting with the official transportation of consulate documents;
- Supporting business travel and official events as needed.
3. Compensation
3.1 The initial salary will be ¥ 343.213,00 (three hundred and forty-three thousand, two hundred and thirteen yen) per month, subject to mandatory social security contributions under Japanese law. The Consulate General will also cover the following:
- Social security ("Kokumin Nenkin");
- Health insurance ("Kokumin Kenkou Hoken");
- Unemployment insurance ("Koyo Hoken");
- Retirement insurance ("Yoro Hoken").
4. Contracting regime
4.1 This process does not constitute a public tender, and the position is not a public office or function within the Brazilian Government.
4.2 Employment relations will be governed by Japanese labor laws.
4.3 The contract will have an initial term of one (1) year, renewable for another year or indefinitely, as permitted by local law and the parties’ agreement. A three-month paid probationary period will apply.
4.4 The position requires a 40-hour workweek, with occasional extra shifts for emergencies or unavoidable services, compensated either monetarily or with additional leave.
5. Qualifications
5.1 Candidates must:
a) Be at least 18 years old;
b) Possess a certificate of elementary education or equivalent;
c) Be a legal resident of Japan with permission to work;
d) Be fluent in Japanese and one other language (Portuguese, English, or Spanish);
e) Have good interpersonal skills and the ability to smoothly handle contacts with internal and external actors.
6. Application
6.1 Interested candidates must send a completed application form, available at the end of this notice, to the Selection Committee via email by 11:59 p.m. on February 18th, 2025, along with the following documents:
- Curriculum vitae and certificates of previous work experience (if applicable);
- Copy of ID (passport, driver’s license, zairyu card);
- Certificate of completion of elementary education or equivalent;
- Valid criminal record certificate issued within the last three months;
- Proof of legal residency and work eligibility (for non-Japanese candidates).
6.2 Brazilian candidates must also provide:
- A signed declaration acknowledging that the position does not imply admittance into the Brazilian public service;
- Certificate of electoral clearance;
- Declaration of non-affiliation with the Brazilian public service;
- Military service compliance certificate (for male candidates).
6.3 All documents must be sent to [ processoseletivo.cgtoquio2025@gmail.com ]. Late or incomplete submissions will not be accepted.
6.4 The Consulate General of Brazil in Tokyo will not sponsor or facilitate visa applications of any kind. Non-Japanese candidates must already hold work-permissible visas.
7. Selection
7.1 The selection process comprises:
a) Curriculum analysis;
b) Language knowledge test in Japanese, interview and driving test.
7.2 The Selection Committee may reject applications deemed incompatible with the role based on the submitted documents.
7.3 Candidates passing the initial review will be invited for a language knowledge test, interview and driving test.
7.4 A provisional list of candidates pre-selected for the next phase of the selection process will be published on February 19th, 2025, on the Consulate’s website: https://www.gov.br/mre/pt-br/consulado-toquio. Eligible candidates will be contacted for a language knowledge test, interview and driving tests to be held between February 25th and 27th, 2025, at the Consulate General in Tokyo.
7.5 Final scores will combine test and interview results.
8. Review and appeals
8.1 Candidates may request a review of test results or file appeals (without suspensive effect) within 48 hours of provisional results publication and according to the selection process timeline listed below. Requests must be submitted via email [processoseletivo.cgtoquio2025@gmail.com].
- February 18, 2025 - Deadline for submitting the application form and relevant documentation;
- February 19, 2025 - Announcement of the list of pre-selected candidates for the testing and interview phase;
- February 25 to 27, 2025 - Written tests, interviews and practical driving tests;
- March 3, 2025 - Announcement of the final result of the selection process.
8.2 Late or improperly submitted appeals will not be considered.
8.3 The Selection Committee’s decisions on appeals are final and there will be no appeal against the result of an appeal.
9. Results
9.1 Final results will be published by March 3rd, 2025, on the Consulate’s website: https://www.gov.br/mre/pt-br/consulado-toquio.
9.2 The selection process remains valid for 12 months, during which other vacancies in the same category may be filled from the candidate pool. During this period, candidates may be invited, in order of ranking, to fill any additional vacancies that arise in the same employment category, whether temporary or permanent.
9.3 The top-ranked candidate must present a health clearance certificate within five (5) calendar days of notification.
10. Employment
10.1 Employment for the three-month probationary period begins upon completion of admission procedures and documentation.
10.2 Failure to meet deadlines or withdrawal will disqualify the candidate, and the next-ranked candidate will be invited.
11. General provisions
11.1 Registration implies full acceptance of the rules and deadlines established in this notice. Candidates providing false information or failing to meet requirements may be disqualified at any time.
11.2 Omissions will be settled by the Selection Committee.
