VITEM XII - Artistic or Sports Activities
According to the Normative Resolutions Nos. 16/2017 and 25/2018 of the National Immigration Council (CNIg), a VITEM XII may be issued to people who intend to go to Brazil in order to participate in exhibitions, shows, artistic performances, gathering of artists, sport tournaments and other similar activities, with a fixed-term contract, without a formal labor relationship with an individual or legal entity domiciled in the country, as well as technicians in amusement shows and other professionals who, on an ancillary basis, participate in the activities of said artists or athletes.
⚠️ Prior authorization from The Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Headquarters (which is internally processed by SERE/DIM) is required for all applicants under 18 years of age, regardless of the duration of the intended stay.
⚠️ For stays of up to 90 days, a Visitor Visa (VIVIS) may be issued for applicants who are 18 years old or older.
⚠️ For applicants who are 18 years old or older and intend to stay in Brazil for a period exceeding ninety (90) days, before applying for a VITEM XII, a Brazilian entity or organization must file for a petition for temporary residency with The Ministry of Justice. The visa will be issued after the temporary residency has been granted by The Ministry of Justice.
General requirements

* Copy of Birth Certificate, coupled with a translation thereof into English, signed by the translator (applicant may not be the translator); |

REMARKS:
* The original documents must be submitted together with a copy. The original documents shall be returned to the applicant.
For athletes between 14 and 18 years old, training at cultural centers or sport organizations (to be produced by said cultural centers or sport organizations):
| 8 | Proof of enrollment before a federation, confederation or league of the sport in question; |
| 9 | In case of football/soccer, document evidencing that the entity is ranked under categories “A” and “B”. For other sports, a statement issued by the national ruling body or entity, verifying the availability of compatible technical knowledge and infrastructure; |
| 10 | Proof of enrollment of the training program before a Municipal or Local Council for Child and Teenager Rights (Conselho Municipal ou Distrital dos Direitos da Criança e do Adolescente); |
| 11 | Statement, expressly undertaking responsibility for the maintenance of the applicant, including: (i) travel expenses (round trip), lodging and other general expenses incurred by the applicant; (ii) medical and dental expenses; (iii) enrollment before a school, coupled with guarantees on assiduity and performance; (iv) promotion of the teenager’s right to family and community life; and (v) observance of all other rights enjoyed by the teenager, as foreseen by Brazilian applicable laws, and specially under the Child and Teenager Statute (Estatuto da Criança e do Adolescente); |
| 12 | Agreement or other instrument executed with a school; or sufficient evidence that the cultural center or sport organization has its own educational structure in place. |
For athletes of 14 years old or older training at sport organizations – exclusively during school vacations – for periods of up to ninety (90) days:
| 13 | Statement issued by relevant sport organization expressly undertaking responsibility for the maintenance of the applicant in Brazil, as well as for: (i) travel expenses (round trip), lodging and other general expenses incurred by the applicant; (ii) medical and dental expenses; and (iii) observance of all other rights enjoyed by the teenager, as foreseen by Brazilian applicable laws, and specially under the Child and Teenager Statute (Estatuto da Criança e do Adolescente); |
| 14 | Statement issued by the school at the country of origin, according to which the applicant’s training shall take place during her/his school vacation. |
For people under 18 years old
All of the above-captioned documents, as applicable, as well as the following ones:

Signature of both parents (both father and mother or guardian) is required in the signature field of the application form. |
