Name and gender endorsement for transgender people

What it is

This involves the registration of name and gender on Brazilian documents for transgender people abroad, through the Brazilian Consular Network.

⚠️ The registration of the name, gender or both will be received at the Consulate and sent to the registry office in Brazil where the person concerned was registered or has had their consular certificate transferred.

Please send the documentation listed below to regist.cgtoquio@itamaraty.gov.br, with the subject line "Name and gender endorsement".

Documents required

1	Updated birth or marriage certificate, as appropriate	Issued no more than 6 months ago
2	Passport and any other Brazilian identity documents you possess	Including RG (Brazilian ID), national civil identification (ICN) and social identity card, if any
3	CPF (Brazilian taxpayer number)
4	Voter's registration card and electoral discharge certificate from the Electoral Court
5	Proof of address

Additional documents

Depending on the length of time you have lived abroad, you will also need to present this information:

6	Residents abroad for over five years	Local criminal records certificate Proof of uninterrupted residence abroad for at least five years
7	Residents abroad for less than five years	Certificate from the criminal prosecutor of the place of residence for the last five years Criminal execution certificate for the place of residence for the last five years Certificate from the notary public of the place of residence for the last five years Labor Court certificate from the place of residence for the last five years Military Justice certificate, if applicable.
