Electronic Visas (eVisas, for citizens of Canada, Australia and the US) will be requested AND processed solely through the virtual platform https://brazil.vfsevisa.com/ . The estimated processing time is 10 (ten) business days, from the date the request is accepted at the virtual platform. The eVisa will be received by e-mail.
For all other nationalities or types of visa:
Visa processing time:
- The estimated processing time is up to 20 (twenty) business days, from the date the documents are received at the Consulate.
- The processing time excludes the postage time for applications submitted by mail.
- The processing time of some applications that depend on preapproval or consultation of the Brazilian government in Brasilia, including permanent visas and certain types of temporary visas, cannot be estimated.

- Yellow fever vaccination is highly recommended if the applicant's destination in Brazil includes any of the following States: Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Bahia, Espírito Santo, Distrito Federal, Goiás, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, Pará, Piauí, Rio Grande do Sul, Rondônia, Roraima, São Paulo, Santa Catarina and Tocantins.
Entry of medications in Brazil
The entry of medicines in Brazil is a matter of exclusive competence of the National Health Surveillance Agency - ANVISA, in Brazil.

Note that the entire procedure is carried out with the competent authorities, without any step of any nature to be performed at the Embassy.

Fraud alert: Visa "Expeditors"
- The Consulate General of Brazil alerts visa applicants to false, deceiving or misleading information given by some companies that act as intermediaries and charge additional fees claiming to expedite services.
- Please be advised that companies or individuals specialized in visa services cannot expedite the issuance of visas. The Consulate General of Brazil in Montreal does not recommend or endorse the services of visa agencies.
- Visa processing times and fees are clearly stated on this website and are official. No other charges apply.
