To whom the Research, Teaching or Academic Extension Temporary Visa is applicable

The research, teaching or academic extension temporary visa is applicable to:

the migrant with no laboral relationship with the Brazilian institution who goes to Brazil for a stay of more than 90 days; or
the migrant with laboral relationship with the Brazilian institution.

Online Visa Request Form Receipt (RER) (hard copy);
international passport with at least two blank pages (original);
visa fee payment slip (soft copy);
proof of means of subsistence compatible with the finality and the duration of the trip (soft copy);
proof of means of transportation for entrance and exit of Brazilian territory (soft copy);
proof of the engagement in the intended activity (soft copy);
police character certificate - issued by the Nigeria Police Force (soft copy);
proof of residence in Nigeria - CERPAC, issued by the Nigeria Immigration Service (soft copy);
If the applicant falls within the scope of 12.4.8, IV of the Portaria MRE nº 428/2022:

published MCTIC administrative ordinance that authorizes the research activity and the applicant's participation in it (soft copy); and
signed Statement of Commitment (soft copy).

start a new visa application in the Online Visa Request Form (how to do it);
book your appointment for submission on: https://ec-lagos.itamaraty.gov.br;
wait for the validation of your application. While waiting, monitor your email inbox. You will receive the confirmation of the validation via email;
send your physical documents via courier (how to do it);
track the progress of the processing of your visa application (how to do it). Once it has been processed, you will receive your physical documents via courier in the provided return envelope.
