ALERT TO BRAZILIAN DUAL NATIONALS
The reinstatement of visa requirements for nationals of Australia, Canada, and the United States came into effect on April 10, 2025.
In accordance with international civil aviation regulations (Annex IX to the 1944 Chicago Convention – Decree No. 21,713 of August 27, 1946), passengers are not permitted to board flights without a valid travel document, including an entry visa when required. As a result, airlines require Brazilian visas to be presented at check-in and boarding by holders of Australian, Canadian, and U.S. passports.
However, Brazilian citizens who also hold Australian, Canadian, or United States nationality are not eligible to receive Brazilian visas in their foreign passports, due to current regulatory restrictions.
Therefore, to avoid boarding issues with airlines, Brazilian citizens who also hold Australian, Canadian, or U.S. nationality must ensure they are in possession of a valid Brazilian passport when traveling to Brazil.
Apply for your Brazilian passport through the e-consular system.
