CPF for non-Brazilian citizens (in English)
Non-Brazilian citizens who intend to study or work in Brazil, who have business in Brazil or who are married to a Brazilian citizen should request a CPF number, which is mandatory for operations as opening a bank account, making financial transactions, buying/selling properties and other legal matters.
Brazilian citizens with dual citizenship must apply for a CPF as a Brazilian.

How to request a CPF number (in-person)
- Before coming to the Consulate, scan the documentation below (in PDF or JPEG format only):
- CPF registration form (FCPF). The browser should allow pop-ups, otherwise the form will not be submitted. After clicking on "send" a form will be generated which should be printed and signed by applicant;
- Passport identification page;
- Birth certificate or similar document showing nationality and parents' name*;
- Minors under 16 years of age, must come to the Consulate accompanied by one of their parents or legal guardian, who must present their photo ID and have a valid CPF number.
- Create an account on the e-consular system and fill out the request for CPF-Foreigners, uploading the documentation listed above (click here for instructions).
- Once you request is approved, schedule an in-person appointment using the e-consular system. On the day of your appointment, present the original documentation listed above (1-4).
Note*: all birth/ marriage certificates issued outside Brazil or the United States must have the Apostille or be legalized at an Embassy/Consulate of Brazil when issued by a country that is not part of the Apostille convention.
