A Iniciativa Global para o Direito Internacional Humanitário realizará Conferência de Alto Nível para Preservar a Humanidade na Guerra, na Jordânia, em 2026

No dia de hoje, os seis Estados fundadores da Iniciativa Global para Fortalecer o Compromisso Político com o Direito Internacional Humanitário (DIH) anunciam que a Conferência de Alto Nível para Preservar a Humanidade na Guerra será realizada no Reino Hachemita da Jordânia. no último trimestre de 2026.

Sua Majestade o Rei Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, Rei do Reino Hachemita da Jordânia, e os líderes do Brasil, da China, da França, do Cazaquistão e da África do Sul, em parceria com o Comitê Internacional da Cruz Vermelha, convidam os líderes de todos os Estados a se reunirem neste momento crucial. Devemos permanecer unidos na convicção de que as regras da guerra são fundamentais para a preservação de nossa humanidade comum em tempos de conflito e devem ser respeitadas de forma universal, imparcial e consistente.

Movidos por um profundo senso de responsabilidade e urgência para pôr fim à brutalidade, ao sofrimento humano inconcebível e à destruição decorrentes dos conflitos armados, Brasil, China, França, Jordânia, Cazaquistão e África do Sul, juntamente com o Comitê Internacional da Cruz Vermelha (CICV), lançaram a Iniciativa Global de Direito Internacional Humanitário em setembro de 2024.

Até o momento, noventa e nove Estados, de todas as regiões do mundo, aderiram formalmente à Iniciativa Global de DIH. Vinte e sete Estados estão co-liderando sete eixos temáticos de trabalho com o objetivo de elaborar recomendações práticas para fortalecer o respeito ao Direito Internacional Humanitário e enfrentar os desafios decorrentes das transformações contemporâneas da guerra. Conclamamos todos os Estados a unirem-se a esse esforço e a mobilizarem-se em torno de nossa responsabilidade comum: prevenir atrocidades e proteger a humanidade em tempos de guerra.

The Global International Humanitarian Law Initiative to hold a High-level Conference on Humanity in War in Jordan in 2026

Today, the six founding States of the Global Initiative to Galvanize Political Commitment to International Humanitarian Law announce that the High-Level Conference on Humanity in War will be held in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in the fourth quarter of 2026.

His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the leaders of Brazil, China, France, Kazakhstan and South Africa, in partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross, invite leaders of all States to come together at this pivotal time. We must stand united in reaffirming that the rules of war are fundamental to preserving our shared humanity in times of conflict, and that these rules must be upheld universally, impartially and consistently.

Driven by a deep sense of responsibility and urgency to end brutality, unconscionable human suffering, and destruction in war, Brazil, China, France, Jordan, Kazakhstan and South Africa, together with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), launched the Global International Humanitarian Law initiative in September 2024.

To date, ninety-nine states from all regions of the world have formally joined the Global IHL Initiative. Twenty-seven states are co-leading seven thematic workstreams to develop practical recommendations to strengthen respect for International Humanitarian Law and to address challenges posed by contemporary evolutions of warfare. We call on all states to join us in this effort and to unite around our shared responsibility: to prevent atrocities and protect humanity in times of war.
