Vacancies
The lists of available spots will be in the "Editais" section of the CAPES PEC-PG page, from the dates informed in the selection process calendar.
Benefits
- Monthly stipend - R$ 2,100.00 for Master's and R$ 3,100.00 for Doctorate.
- Monthly assistance for mandatory health insurance - R$400.00.
- Financial assistance to return to the country of origin - as per the table attached to MRE Ordinance No. 572/2024.
Who can participate
Anyone interested in participating in PEC-PG must comply with:
- the general requirements;
- the specific requirements of the modality you wish to study (full master's degree, full doctorate or sandwich doctorate); and
- the language requirements of the position you are applying for.
General requirements
- Be a national of one of the countries participating in the Program
- Live in one of the countries participating in the Program
- Not having Brazilian nationality (not having dual Brazilian nationality nor the right to it)
- Not having a permanent residence permit for Brazil
- Have completed a higher education course equivalent to an undergraduate degree
- Not be taking, in Brazil, another course of the same level that you intend to take in PEC-PG
- Have a clean record, with no debts with CAPES or the Brazilian government
- Be able to start the course within the deadline of the Call Notice and the postgraduate program
- Have an updated CV on the Lattes platform (if you don't have a Lattes CV yet, register here)
- Be registered on the ORCID platform and enter the number on the registration form (if you are not yet registered, register here)
- Not having a doctorate degree
- Never having received a scholarship from the Move la America program, from CAPES
- For those who graduated in Brazil through PEC-G, or with a scholarship from a Brazilian agency: have spent at least 2 years in your country, after having completed your graduation in Brazil
- Comply with all other rules of the Call Notice
Specific requirements
For a Full Master's Degree
In addition to meeting all general requirements, anyone interested in pursuing a full master 's degree must:
- Not have a master's degree; and
- Never have received a master's degree scholarship (Sandwich or Full), from a Brazilian federal public body, in Brazil or abroad.
For a Full Doctorate
In addition to fulfilling all general requirements, anyone interested in pursuing a full doctorate must:
- Never have received a doctoral scholarship (Sandwich or Full) offered by a Brazilian federal public body, in Brazil or abroad; and
- If you completed your master's degree in Brazil through PEC-PG, or with a scholarship from a Brazilian agency (including CAPES or CNPq): have spent at least 2 years in your country, after completing the course in Brazil.
For a Sandwich Doctorate
In addition to fulfilling all general requirements, anyone interested in pursuing a sandwich doctorate must:
- Be regularly enrolled in a doctoral course outside Brazil;
- Have completed at least one academic year of the doctorate by the application deadline; and
- Never have received a doctoral scholarship (Sandwich or Full) from a Brazilian federal public body, in Brazil or abroad.
Language requirements
In addition to the general and specific requirements, applicants for the PEC-PG must meet the language requirements for the course they wish to pursue. Check the language requirements for each course in the list of vacancies.
Application
Important:
- By applying for PEC-PG, you confirm that you understand and accept all the rules of the notice and applicable legislation. You cannot later claim that you were unaware of or disagreed with the conditions.
- When registering, you must indicate up to two postgraduate programs (PPGs) from the list of vacancies, in order of preference.
- Anyone who does not complete the application within the deadline will be excluded from the selection process.
- CAPES is not responsible for applications that are not submitted due to technical problems.
- CAPES will not accept applications by email, mail, fax or after the deadline.
How to apply
Step 1: Access the CAPES page: https://inscricao.capes.gov.br
- You must access the system with your CPF (Individual Taxpayer Registry) number or with your ORCID registration number, if you do not have a CPF.
Step 2: Complete the online application form.
- You can fill out the form in Portuguese, Spanish or English.

Documents for registration
Important:
All documents must be in Portuguese, Spanish or English, or accompanied by a simple translation into one of these languages.
To register, you must present:
- the documents and general information; and
- additional documents for the modality you wish to study (full master's degree, full doctorate or sandwich doctorate).
Documents and general information (for all modalities)
- Official photo ID Proof of residence abroad (such as a water or electricity bill)
- Valid ORCID number Research project in Portuguese, Spanish or English (check the mandatory items of the research project in the Notice)
- Declaration of employment relationship (if applicable), issued after publication of the notice, in Portuguese, Spanish or English
- Complete, updated Lattes CV in Portuguese, with personal data, professional activity (including current employment, if applicable) and academic production
- Memorial (model in Annex III of the Call Notice) with up to 600 words, in Portuguese, Spanish or English (check the Call Notice for mandatory memorial items)
Additional documents by modality
Full Master's Degree
- Diploma or proof of completion of undergraduate studies (or medical residency, if applicable)
- Academic transcript with all undergraduate grades
Full Doctorate
- Diploma or proof of completion of undergraduate studies (or medical residency, if applicable)
- Master's degree, if applicable, or a statement from the course coordinator stating the likely date of the dissertation defense.
- Academic transcript with all undergraduate grades and, if applicable, master's grades
Sandwich Doctorate
- Diploma or proof of completion of undergraduate studies (or medical residency, if applicable)
- Master's degree, if applicable
- Academic transcript with all grades from undergraduate, master's and ongoing doctorate courses
- Declaration from the doctoral program confirming:
- That you are regularly enrolled in the doctorate
- That the time in Brazil does not exceed the total period for the doctorate
- That you have already completed a number of doctoral credits in your country of origin compatible with the prospect of completing the course, in a timely manner, after the activities in Brazil
- That you have already passed the qualifying exam or that you have already completed the first year of your doctorate
