State of Eritrea

Brazil and Eritrea established diplomatic relations in 1996. The Embassy of Brazil in Egypt is responsible for cumulatively representing Brazil before the State of Eritrea, and the the Embassy of Eritrea in Cairo is responsible for overseeing, cumulatively, Eritrean interests before Brazil.
The first visit of an Eritrean authority to Brazil took place in February 2010, when the Minister of Mines and Energy, Ahmed Haji, traveled to Brasilia to hand in a letter from President Isaias Afwerki to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
In May 2010, the Minister of Agriculture of Eritrea, Arefaine Behre, took part in the Brazil-Africa Dialogue on Food Safety, Fight against Hunger and Rural Development, held in Brasilia. In 2011, Minister Behre made a visit to Brazil.

2012 - The Ambassador of Brazil in Cairo, Marco Antonio Diniz Brandão, presents his credentials to President Afwerki, the first ones by an Ambassador of Brazil to Eritrea (February)
2011 - The Minister of Agriculture of Eritrea, Arefaine Behre, visits Brazil when he maintains high-level meetings at Itamaraty and meets with his counterpart (July)
2010 - Minister of Agriculture of Eritrea, Arefaine Behre, takes part in the Brazil-Africa Dialogue on Food Safety, Fight against Hunger and Rural Development, held in Brasilia (May)
