Republic of San Marino
Diplomatic relations between Brazil and San Marino were established in 1984. The Embassy of Brazil in Rome (Italy) is cumulatively responsible for representing the country before San Marino. Educational cooperation is an important aspect of Brazil-San Marino bilateral relations.
In August 2015, the Secretary of State of Education and Culture of San Marino, Giuseppe Maria Morganti, paid the first official visit of a Sammarinese authority to Brazil, where he met with Brazilian Minister of Education Renato Janine Ribeiro. Secretary Morganti and the non-resident Ambassador of Brazil to San Marino held three meetings: in April and July 2015, in Rome, and in March 2016 in San Marino.
In the economic arena, Brazilian exports to San Marino totaled $66.2 thousand in 2019 (224th largest importer), while Sammarinese exports to Brazil reached $8.48 milllion (107th largest exporter). The Brazilian deficit, on its turn, amounts to $8.42 million. Some of the main Brazilian exports to San Marino in 2019 were clothing (46%); strollers and toys (16%); and footwear (8.2%). Brazilian imports from San Marino included medicines (91%); transformation industry goods (4.4%); medicines and pharmaceuticals (2.9%).
San Marino has an active diplomacy in forums and a convergence of views with Brazil on several topics of the international agenda.
