Republic of Kazakhstan

Brazil and Kazakhstan established diplomatic relations in 1993. Bilateral dialogue was strengthened by the opening, in 2006, of the Brazilian Embassy in Kazakhstan and by the opening of the Kazakh Embassy in Brasília in 2013.
Brazil and Kazakhstan maintain a mechanism for political consultations, whose most recent meeting took place in 2017. The Brazilian and Kazakh governments have signed several agreements (such as the Extradition Agreement, the Mutual Legal Assistance Agreement in Criminal Matters, and the Agreement on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons) and are negotiating other instruments to advance bilateral cooperation initiatives in different areas (such as agricultural research) and to deepen trade and investment relations.
Trade flows between the two countries have grown significantly, from $45 million in 2002 to more than $116 million in 2018, with Brazilian exports totaling $35.74 million and imports amounting to $80.31 million. There are Brazilian companies operating in the Kazakh market, and others are considering establishing themselves in the country to produce and export to markets of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The main Kazakh airline, Air Astana, operates more than ten Embraer aircrafts.
