Brunei Darussalam

Brazil and Brunei Darussalam established diplomatic relations in 1984, the year Brunei became independent. Brazil does not have a resident Embassy in Brunei and the Embassy of Brazil in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) is responsible for overseeing, cumulatively, the relations with the country. Brunei does not have an Embassy in Brasilia and oversees its relations with Brazil through its High Commission in Canada.

Minister of Development Dato Seri Suhaimi Gafaar visited Brazil in March 2018 as head of his country's delegation to the 8th World Water Forum, in Brasília.

In 2022, Brazil's trade with Brunei reached $21.1 million, with Brazilian exports of $900,000. Brunei Darussalam is a member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), founded in 1967. In 2022, Brazil's trade with ASEAN countries surpassed $ 33.8 billion.
