Visit to Brazil of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Suriname, Yldiz Pollack-Beighle – Brasilia, Feb 19-20, 2018 – Amendment
The Foreign Minister of Suriname, Yldiz Pollack-Beighle, will visit Brazil on February 19 and 20, 2018. She will be received by Minister Aloysio Nunes Ferreira in Brasília and will attend the Consultation Meeting of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Regional Contribution to the Global Compact on Refugees.
The two Foreign Ministers will review themes of the bilateral and regional agenda, with emphasis on technical cooperation, health, police cooperation, defense, consular and migration affairs and bilateral trade. On the occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding between the Surinamese Government and the Rio Branco Institute will be signed for the consolidation of the Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Suriname, as well as the Complementary Agreement of the Basic Agreement for Scientific and Technical Cooperation for the implementation of the Project "Institutional Strengthening for the Strategic Management of Water Resources of Suriname". Brazil will present a proposal for an agreement on investment cooperation and facilitation, with a view to increase investment flows.
Bilateral trade expanded in 2017 and reached US$ 40.1 million, with a Brazilian surplus of US$ 29.4 million.
