Visit of the United States National Security Advisor, Ambassador Robert O’Brien - São Paulo and Brasília, October 19-20, 2020

On October 19 and 20, the U.S. National Security Advisor, Ambassador Robert O'Brien, will make a working visit to Brazil.

Ambassador O'Brien chairs the National Security Council (NSC), an institution established in 1947, which is the main advisory body to the President of the United States on national security and foreign policy issues.

The delegation accompanying Ambassador O'Brien on his official mission will include NSC representatives; Deputy U.S. Trade Representative Michael Nemelka; the President of the Export-Import Bank of the United States, Kimberly Reed, and the Managing Director of the U.S. Development Finance Corporation, Sabrina H. Teichman.    

On the morning of the 19th, Ambassador O'Brien will participate in scheduled economic and commercial events in the city of São Paulo. At the headquarters of the Federation of the Industries of the State of São Paulo (FIESP), he will meet with Brazilian entrepreneurs.

On the same day, in Brasilia, Robert O'Brien will hold a meeting with the Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes. In the afternoon, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ernesto Araújo will have a working meeting and dinner with the representative of the U.S. government. On the occasion, they will discuss bilateral issues and exchange views on regional and international challenges.

On the 20th, Ambassador O´Brien will be received by the President of the Republic, at the Planalto Palace, and will meet with the Minister of the Institutional Security Office of the Presidency of the Republic, General Augusto Heleno.

The visit of Ambassador O'Brien represents an additional milestone in the productive dialogue between the governments of Brazil and the United States in all areas. In addition, it reflects the diversity of the bilateral relationship at its many different aspects, particularly in the economic field and in the area of defense and security.
