Visit of the President of the Republic to the United States – New York, Washington and San Francisco, June 28 to July 1, 2015
The President of the Republic will visit the United States between June 28 and July 1, when she will participate in scheduled events in New York, Washington and San Francisco.
The visit consolidates the Brazil-United States partnership and will set new goals for bilateral cooperation, as a continuation of the presidential dialogue.
In New York, the President will follow an economic-oriented schedule. On the morning of June 29, she will close the "Infrastructure Brasil" seminar, an event directed to US investors and government authorities to promote opportunities for infrastructure investment in Brazil, within the scope of the second phase of the Program of Investment in Logistics (PIL).
Still in New York, the President will hold meetings with the heads of investment funds, banks and US companies investing in Brazil.
In Washington, the President of the Republic will meet with President Barack Obama, who will hold a dinner in her honor on June 29. In a work meeting at the White House, on the morning of the 30th, the two leaders will address the main themes on the bilateral agenda and will discuss current regional and global topics.
On the afternoon of June 30, in Washington, the President will attend the Third Brazil-US Entrepreneurship Summit, held by the National Confederation of Industry and by APEX-Brasil, in partnership with the US Chamber of Commerce and the Amcham-Brasil (American Chamber of Commerce).
In the San Francisco area, on July 1, President Dilma Rousseff will hold meetings with chief executives from the IT, communications, aerospace, biotechnology and biomedicine sectors, with the aim of promoting partnerships in innovation among institutions of the two countries. She will also visit SRI International, a NASA research center and Google's headquarters.
In 2014, the United States was the second major Brazilian trading partner after China, accounting for 13.66% of Brazil's foreign trade. Between 2005 and 2014, trade between Brazil and the US grew 76.2 %, from US$ 35.2 billion to US$ 62 billion. From January to May 2015, it totaled US$ 21.4 billion.
The United States is the largest foreign investor in Brazil. Brazilian Central Bank data in 2013 showed that the US stock of investments in the country reached US$ 116 billion. In the same year, the Brazilian stock of investments in the US was approximately US$ 14 billion.
