Visit of the President of the Republic to Russia – Moscow, June 21-22, 2017
The President of the Republic, Michel Temer, will visit the Russian Federation between June 20 and 21. In Moscow, he will hold meetings with President Vladimir Putin, with Prime-Minister Dmitry Medvedev and with the Presidents of the Federal Assembly of Russia, Valentina Matvienko and Vyacheslav Volodin.
The visit comes at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin, and marks the resumption of the high-level agenda between the two countries. The meeting between the two Presidents, on June 21, will be an occasion to discuss the deepening of the bilateral strategic partnership, established in 2002. The Presidents will examine means of reinforcing the economic-trade relationship and advancing cooperation in science and technology.
During the meeting, issues of the global agenda will also be addressed. Russia is an important partner of Brazil in the bilateral sphere as well as within the United Nations, of the G20 and of BRICS.
At the end of the meeting between Presidents Putin and Temer, bilateral acts will be signed, to forward initiatives of mutual importance in the areas of investment promotion, trade facilitation, expediting customs procedures, incentive to co-production of films, broadening the political dialogue, among others.
On the 20th, President Temer will participate in a meeting with Russian investors. He will present the agenda of reforms and investment opportunities in Brazil.
Russia is one of the main destinations for Brazilian agricultural products, and the two countries have the goal to increase bilateral exchange to the level of US$ 10 billion annually. Bilateral trade totaled US$ 4.3 billion last year. Between January and May this year, it increased 42% compared to the same period of 2016, reaching US$ 2.1 billion.
