Visit of the President of the Republic to Panama – January 28, 2026
At the invitation of Panama’s President José Raúl Mulino, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will pay an official visit to Panama on January 28, accompanied by a ministerial and business delegation.
President Lula will take part, as guest of honor, in the opening session of the International Economic Forum - Latin America and the Caribbean 2026. The Forum is organized by the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF) and the Government of Panama, and will be held at the Panama Convention Center.
On the same date, President Lula will hold a bilateral meeting with President Mulino to discuss opportunities for trade and investment, development cooperation, energy transition, and biofuels, among other topics. The program also includes a visit to the Cocoli locks in the Panama Canal.
Panama, the first Central American country to become an associate member of Mercosur, plays a key role in logistics due to its strategic location and modern port and airport infrastructure. Panama is Brazil’s main partner in Central America. In 2025, bilateral trade reached a record $1.6 billion in 2025, representing an increase of 78% compared to the previous year.
