The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mauro Vieira, will visit Mexico on February 22 and 23, to co-chair, with the Mexican Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Claudia Ruiz Massieu, the 3rd Meeting of the Brazil-Mexico Binational Commission.
The Binational Commission will examine the broad agenda of the bilateral relationship, covering political, economic, commercial, educational, cultural and cooperation aspects, among others.
The visit takes place at a promising moment of the bilateral relations and aims at giving momentum to the agenda – undertaken during the State Visit of President Dilma Rousseff to Mexico, in May 2015 – of strengthening the political dialogue, of diversification and expansion of the economic ties and of revitalization of the cooperation between the two countries.
Brazil and Mexico are the two largest Latin American economies. Bilateral trade reached US$ 8 billion in 2015. Mexico is Brazil's 8th trading partner, and Brazil has become Mexico's 7th trade partner. Brazil is one of the largest Latin American investors in Mexico and the second destination for Mexican investments abroad.
