Third G77/China Summit - Kampala, Jan 21-22, 2024
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, Ambassador Mauro Vieira, will take part in the Third South Summit of the Group of 77 Plus China (G77/China), to be held in Kampala, on January 21st and 22nd.
The G77/China brings together 135 developing countries that coordinate to foster their collective interests and to enhance their joint negotiating capacity through joint action in the main forums of the United Nations system, including the promotion of South-South development cooperation The group plays an important role in promoting the interests of its members in international negotiations, in particular on economic and sustainable development issues.
Brazil’s high level participation at the 3rd South Summit reflects the central importance the country gives to multilateralism and cooperation between developing countries.
Minister Mauro Vieira's visit to Kampala also offers an opportunity to continue to promote the African foreign policy agenda and to prepare President Lula's trip to Ethiopia, in February. The President will participate, as a special guest, in the annual summit meeting of the African Union and will pay a bilateral visit to that country.
