The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, João Gomes Cravinho, visits Brazil
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mauro Vieira, held a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, Dr. João Gomes Cravinho, on February 23, at the Itamaraty Palace in Brasília.
The Foreign Ministers addressed bilateral, multilateral and regional issues, including preparation for the Brazil-Portugal Summit, to be held next April, in Lisbon; bilateral cooperation in various sectors, such as trade and investment, energy, innovation, defense and infrastructure; the Mercosur-European Union Agreement; the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP); and the situation in Ukraine.
During his official visit to Brazil, the Portuguese Foreign Minister was received in audience by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. He also met with Vice-President Geraldo Alckmin.
In addition to the deep historical and cultural ties between Brazil and Portugal, both countries maintain an excellent commercial relationship, with a substantial volume of transactions. Trade flow in 2022 reached US$ 5.26 billion.
