PRESS RELEASE NO. 376
Market opening in Indonesia for yerba mate exports
The Brazilian government welcomes the announcement by the Indonesian government authorizing the export of yerba mate from Brazil to Indonesia.
The top yerba mate-producing states in Brazil are Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and Paraná.
In 2023, Brazilian agricultural exports to Indonesia totaled more than $3.69 billion, with soy, sugar and alcohol products accounting for 74% of total exports. In the first seven months of this year, Brazil has already exported more than $2.44 billion in agricultural products to that country.
With this new authorization, the Brazilian agribusiness sector obtained its 100th market opening this year, totaling 178 openings across 58 countries since the beginning of 2023.
The openings are the result of joint efforts between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa).
