State Visit of the President of the Republic of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa – Brasília, March 9, 2026
The President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, will make a State visit to Brazil on March 9. During his current term, President Lula traveled to South Africa in 2025 to attend the 20th G20 Summit and in 2023 for the 15th BRICS Summit. He had previously visited the country in 2003, 2007, and 2010. Brazil and South Africa have maintained a Strategic Partnership since 2010.
In addition to the meeting between Presidents Lula and Ramaphosa, a Brazil–South Africa Business Forum will be held. The program also features visits by the South African leader to the National Congress and the Supreme Federal Court.
Trade between Brazil and South Africa reached totaled $2.3 billion in 2025. Brazil’s main exports were poultry meat and edible offal (16.2%), sugars and molasses (8.3%), and road vehicles (6.9%). The main imports from South Africa were silver, platinum, and other platinum-group metals (53.9%).
