PRESS RELEASE N. 254
President Lula's Visit to Paris - June 22 and 23, 2023
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will visit France on June 22 and 23. On this occasion, he will participate in the Summit for a New Global Financing Pact and, on June 23, he will have a working lunch with President Emmanuel Macron.
The Summit for a New Global Financing Pact was proposed by President Macron during the G20 meeting in Bali in November 2022. The initiative is carried out in partnership with the rotating presidencies of the G7, G20, and COP28.
Brazil and France maintain historic relations of friendship, characterized by a dense agenda of cooperation. In 2006, the countries established a Strategic Partnership, which was further solidified two years later with a comprehensive Action Plan, currently undergoing an update.
The shared border, constructive dialogue in multilateral organizations, cooperation in areas such as defense and the environment, and the significant economic and trade relationship are some of the factors that make France a priority partner for the foreign policy of Brazil.
