President Dilma Rousseff to visit the Russian Federation – Moscow, December 13-14, 2012
President Dilma Rousseff will visit the Russian Federation between December 13-14, 2012. While in Moscow, she will be hosted by President Vladimir Putin and by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
The leaders of Brazil and Russia will address the strengthening of the Strategic Cooperation between the two countries, with special attention to initiatives aiming at the modernization of productive structures and at professional training. There is great potential to increase cooperation on education, science and technology, innovation and defense. For instance, the participation of Russian universities in the "Science without Borders" program and the exchange of experience on large sporting events will be examined.
They will also address global affairs, such as the situation in the Middle East and the international financial crisis. In 2013, Russia will hold the G20 Presidency. As members of the BRICS group, Brazil and Russia will address ways to further the strengthening of multilateralism through the reform of political and economic governance organizations.
Between 2001 and 2011, trade exchange rose 357%, reaching US$ 7.16 billion. Within the presidential visit, the 2 nd Brazil-Russia Business Forum will be held, with a view to fostering partnerships between the companies of both countries.
