Ninth MERCOSUR–Canada round of negotiations – Joint press release by MRE/MDIC/MAPA

The negotiations resumed last October and reflect the parties’ interest in deepening economic and trade relations, promoting greater productive integration between the economies of MERCOSUR and Canada.

In-person meetings were held among technical groups on trade in goods, services and financial services, rules of origin, intellectual property, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, and trade and sustainable development. Hybrid meetings were also held on government procurement, technical barriers to trade, and trade and labor.

During the round, three chapters of the Agreement approached completion. A new round will be held in May so that the groups can advance toward concluding the negotiations.
