Minister Antonio de Aguiar Patriota to travel to Venezuela – Caracas, February 7, 2011
Minister Antonio de Aguiar Patriota will make a working visit to Caracas, where he will hold a meeting with the Minister of External Relations of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro.
The Foreign Ministers will go over bilateral affairs – including ongoing projects in areas such as housing, agriculture, industry, energy and development in the border area, in addition to issues in the regional agenda, with special attention to the strengthening of UNASUR.
There is a strong presence of Brazilian companies in Venezuela, especially in areas such as mining and civil construction. Bilateral trade flow reached US$ 4.68 billion in 2010, a 9.52% increase from 2009. The balance of trade is favorable to Brazil, surpassing US$ 3 billion last year, when Venezuela accounted for 15% of Brazil’s total surplus. Brazil is currently Venezuela’s third top trading partner.
