MERCOSUR Rules of Origin

One of the most important outcomes of the Summit was the approval of the new MERCOSUR Rules of Origin, which updates the bloc's rules to align them with international best practices and facilitate its use for commercial operators. The new rules, resulting from four years of negotiation, simplify procedures for the utilization and certification of imported products and inputs, which can be used in the production of higher value-added goods within the bloc.

Furthermore, MERCOSUR made progress in the negotiations for to update specific commitments lists regarding services under the Montevideo Protocol on Trade in Services.
