Joint press release by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Health on the donation of COVID-19 vaccines to Paraguay
The Brazilian government is pleased to announce the donation of 500,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine to Paraguay.
Paraguay will be the first country to benefit from a Brazilian donation of vaccines against COVID-19 under Provisional Measure n. 1081, of December 20, 2021.
Since the outbreak of the new coronavirus, the Brazilian health diplomacy has given priority to the promotion of international solidarity initiatives, in order to reach solutions to the health crisis facing all countries. Through this gesture, Brazil contributes to the goal of saving live and takes a further step towards overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic.
The bilateral initiative reinforces the strong ties that unite the two countries. Brazil and Paraguay maintain an important dialogue and joint engagement in the current sanitary emergency. Both countries actively participate in regional cooperation mechanisms in the area of health, including MERCOSUR and PAHO.
Brazil reaffirms its commitment to the effective promotion of universal and fair access to vaccines, medicines and other supplies required to fight the pandemic. Brazil also reiterates its solidarity with all countries affected by COVID-19.
