Earthquake in Myanmar, Thailand and the region
The Brazilian government has received, with sorrow, news of the 7.7-magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale that struck central Myanmar and parts of Thailand, Laos, China, and India.
While extending condolences to the families of the victims and expressing hopes for the full recovery of the injured, the Brazilian government conveys its solidarity to the governments and peoples affected.
The consular hotlines of the Embassies in Bangkok (+66 92 260-7678), New Delhi (+91 98106 97829), and Yangon (+95 9541 9317), as well as the Consulate General in Chengdu (+86 178 2819 5422), are in contact with Brazilian communities and operational to assist nationals in emergency situations. There are no reports, so far, of Brazilian citizens among the dead or injured.
