Death of former Uruguayan President Jorge Batlle

The Brazilian Government has learned with sorrow of the death of former Uruguayan President Jorge Luis Batlle Ibáñez.

Throughout his long political career, former President Jorge Batlle played an essential role in consolidating democracy in Uruguay and accelerating  the regional integration process.

The Brazilian Government conveys  its condolences to the family of Jorge Battle and to the people and Government of Uruguay for his death.
