Continuation of Israeli attacks against Lebanon

The Brazilian government condemns the most recent Israeli attacks carried out today, the 8th, against Lebanon, which targeted extensive areas and resulted in an initial toll of 254 deaths and 1,165 injuries, according to data from the Lebanese Civil Defense.

The intensification of this offensive follows the announcement, last night, of a ceasefire in the armed conflict in the Middle East and threatens to draw the region into a new escalation of violence and instability.

While reaffirming its commitment to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lebanon, Brazil urges Israel to immediately suspend its military actions and withdraw all its forces from Lebanese territory. It also calls on the parties involved to fully comply with the terms of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701 (2006).
