PRESS RELEASE N. 158
Consulate General established in Orlando
With the publication of Decree 11,500 on April 25, 2023, the process of upgrading the Vice-Consulate in Orlando to the status of Consulate-General has been completed.
The Vice-Consulate in Orlando was opened in June 2022, and during the past 10 months, there has been a growing demand from the local Brazilian community for various consular services.
The upgrading of the office to Consulate-General status will lead to an increased consular presence, benefiting the nearly 180,000 Brazilian nationals residing in the jurisdiction, as well as the approximately 900,000 Brazilian tourists who visit the region annually.
The Consulate-General in Orlando will operate in the same building as the former Vice-Consulate but with greater capacity to provide improved services to Brazilians. Its jurisdiction will cover central and northern Florida, which is home to the largest number of Brazilians in the United States.
The new Consulate-General in Orlando will work in coordination with the Consulate-General in Miami, which will continue to be responsible for South Florida, where 295,000 members of the Brazilian community are estimated to reside.
