Ceasefire between India and Pakistan

The Government of Brazil welcomes the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan announced on 10 May. The agreement calls for an end to “all firings and military actions by land, air and sea” and provides for a further meeting between the parties on 12 May.

This decision constitutes a positive step toward building mutual confidence and reducing tensions in the region.

Brazil reiterates its steadfast commitment to the promotion of peace, stability and dialogue as the sole means of settling disputes, and encourages the parties to continue their diplomatic efforts with a view to lasting peace and the well-being of their peoples, South Asia and the world.
