Brazilian Pavilion at Venice Architecture Biennale receives the Golden Lion
The Brazilian pavilion "Terra", curated by Gabriela de Matos and Paulo Tavares, was awarded this Saturday (20) with the Golden Lion for Best National Participation at the 18th Venice Architecture Biennale. This marks the first time that a Brazilian delegation has received this award.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Guimarães Rosa Institute and the Brazilian Embassy in Rome, supported the Brazilian participation and promoted the opening of the exhibition in the pavilion, which was attended by Brazilian and Italian authorities, among them Minister of Culture Margareth Menezes.
The coordinated work between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, the Fundação Bienal de São Paulo and the Venice Biennale made the Brazilian exhibition possible. It was created by a diverse group of collaborators, including indigenous people, representatives of Afro-Brazilian terreiros (Afro-Brazilian religious centers), and groups dedicated to the ethno-racial perspective and gender representation in architecture.
The Brazilian participation contributes to the revaluation of Brazilian culture and diversity.
